Do you think social programs can become a crutch?

Here is Wisconsin we just had a MAJOR blizzard and they cancelled school.

No big deal...right...good call since we got so much snow.

IT IS A BIG DEAL to the Milwaukee Public Schools. They haven't cancelled a day since 1997 and they were on the radio "apologizing" for doing it.

WHY? The kids get 2 meals a day and are kept out of their parent's hair. The Milwaukee welfare moms go nuts when no one feeds their kids. NOTE TO MOM - YOU FEED YOUR OWN KIDS okay and maybe don't smoke pot today and play with your kid.

No one said they were sorry in my city for cancelling school.

Do you think social programs can become a crutch?

Yes, they can. That's why your beloved Bill Clinton signed the "Welfare to Work" law limiting the amount of time people can spend on "crutches".

As much as we hate to admit it, this is not 1950, when most households were single income. Now, the vast majority of homes are 2 (or more) income, meaning that when schools cancel, one of the parents needs to stay home, lose a days pay, and possibly put their job in jeopardy.

I would like to get a copy of tofu's Bible. I don't recall those passages, but I do recall something about "love thy neighbor" ,helping the poor, and not casting stones. Guess you missed that part...

edit:

Your 80-90% guestimate is off the mark. 72% recieved some kind of subsidised meal in 2005, which is about even with other major metropolitan areas like Miami-Dade and Los Angeles.

I think you, I, and the vast majority of people on this forum could learn something from my 5 yr old son. Check my blog entry for today.

Do you think social programs can become a crutch?

yes they are a crutch and thats why they exist. so that respectable people can identify the weaker elements in our society and target them for exploitation and thats how it should be either youre intelligent or youre a loser who needs a handout and if youre a loser who needs a handout then we will take advantage of your kids by giving them mind control drugs and making money off our investments in the drug companies

Do you think social programs can become a crutch?

Yes, social programs can be a crutch to those people that don't have a good work ethic. And I feel bad that the schools felt it necessary to apologize.

Do you think social programs can become a crutch?

Sure they are a crutch, but when the schools close, if the kids don't eat ot get cared for, the kids are getting punished.

I doubt all the mothers are on pot.

Do you think social programs can become a crutch?

Totally and then this way of 'living' is passed on to the next generation.

I'll bet the public schools were sad too since that meant they didn't get their state funding today!

Do you think social programs can become a crutch?

I think you are going to need crutches if you get any fatter.

Do you think social programs can become a crutch?

I won't respond to your unjust comments. I'll leave that to the Bible (KJV).

'okay and maybe don't smoke pot today'

Matthew 7:1

'NOTE TO MOM - YOU FEED YOUR OWN KIDS'

Matthew 5:7

I thought Tommy Thompson made the most sweeping welfare reform in history.

Whats the matter is it not working?

Oh and in answer to your question, yes it can be a crutch, and people should only be on it for a limited time. Unless there is some sort of permanent disability. Things like mental disorders, or some other sort of handicap that prevents a person from working.

And these handicaps should be verified every couple of years or so.

There may be other factors involved. There are alot of single moms out there who desperately need to work. When their kids get sick, or in this case have school cancelled, they don't always have someone to stay home to watch them. Then they miss days off work which is usually frowned upon by companies, even though it's not the mom's fault. That may be why the city doesn't like to cancel school. In this case though, with the snowstorm, they had to cancel school for the safety of the children.

Yes, social programs have created a society of deadbeats!!!
