It's really just a cleaning agent... technically it has some drying properties, but it's not too bad for your hair overall.

I don't know about salicylic acid and hair, but SA is an ingredient found in acne facial washes, so it could be drying. One thing I do know is very harsh on hair and nearly ALL shampoos have is sodium lauryl/laureth sulfate, which is a very drying cleaning agent. Look for something without sulfates.

i think it will dry it out, saliyclic acid is used to dry up pimples

i have dry hair too i like aussie brand or paul mitchell "awuppui"

i know it is spelled wrong but a hair stylist will know.

Loreal Kids always makes my hair static-y so I'd say yes it makes hair dry.

i'm not sure what salicylic acid does to hair, but i know it's used to get rid of pimples. my guess is that it can dry hair out too.

i have dry hair that is heavy, so i have a hard time keeping my hair hydrated without flattening it out. i started using baby shampoo, which is very gentle, and following up with a very good, light detangling shampoo (biolage has a great one). after my shower, i put dove leave in anti-frizz cream in my hair. what a difference! you could also deep condition once or twice a week with a rich conditioner. cover it with a shower cap and leave on for 20 minutes before rinsing well.

You're right. Not all products that claim to be 'moisturising' do actually moisturise. In most cases, the ingredients actually draw their moisture from the inside of the body, and keep it there. In effect, this is actually drying out your body. Take hand soaps for example, that claim to be moisturising. Glycerin is one of those chemicals that take out the moisture from your skin and leave it on the surface to keep your skin 'moisturised'.

As for hair, don't use too much conditioners because in the long run your hair will end up drier than they were before you used the product. Conditioners make your hair smoother thus silkier, by coating it with chemicals. Some of these chemicals can dry out the hair.

The shampoo I've always used is Pert, its not too expensive but it's not dirt cheap either. I've had no problems with it. Or, if you want something fancy, you could try Sunsilk. Also, another way to keep your hair healthy and shining is to cut your hair every 1 or 2 months.

If hair products don't work, my best bet is to resort to natural alternatives. Here's one:

Mix 1/2 cup honey and 1/4 cup olive oil. (Use 2 tablespoons of oil for normal hair.) Work a small amount at a time through hair until coated. Cover hair with a shower cap; leave on 30 minutes. Remove shower cap; shampoo well and rinse. Dry as usual.

The oil is really what does the trick. It will help lock in the moisture in your hair, and it won't be too oily either because the mixture will be washed off in the rinse.

Depends on where salicylic acid is listed.. the further down on the ingredient list the less their is ... if you love your hair and don't mind spending a little more money.. Ojon products have very low levels of "bad stuff" in them. Also remember the "better shampoo" you do use less of, so you may not go through is as quickly as the cheaper stuff!Ojon has a web site with all kinds of great products,Ojon.com also available on QVC!!Good Luck !! P.S.maybe just use shampoo every other day to keep from the drying effects of the cheaper shampoo...

i've never heard of acid being in loreals shampoo that makes your hair dry, but if you don't want your hair dry i suggest you try Redken's 'all soft' and 'clear moisture' shampoo + conditioner. i loveeee it.
