Reality TV anyone?

Tv has become so bad ! It seems all the shows are about things like the Pussydoll skanks, shows on hair, 10 lb boot camp, survivor, Intervention, nanny 911, honey we're killing out kids, etc

These kind of "air my angst" shows are so utterly boring - talk about exhibitionism in the media.

Whatever happened to normal shows on TV? Even the sitcoms appear to be written for people with an IQ of about 10 these days, I am so tired of stupid people doing stupid things, in the name of entertainment.

So tired of "the next" HGTV host, top model, super star, designer, photographer, hair stylists, whatever - I have never been all that fond of TV to start with ......so ..........

Seen any good movies lately? out of 10 we rented, one was worth watching, Astronaut Farmer - the rest were crap just like TV. Am I getting old and cranky or is the world getting really annoying and stupid?

Reality TV anyone?

no, the world isnt getting stupid. its getting decieved. The media is destroying our Youth so that older people look down on them and shake there heads, we wonder why people have no "morals" or "integrity" anymore and sook and moan about it, then switch on the TV and watch it anyways, instead of getting off our butts and making a difference.

I dont watch TV. there are two shows i watch because they make me laugh, and i only watch them when they come out on DVD because i think that commercials are just as full of filth and lies as most shows are.

Reality TV is rubbish, infact, most TV is... it tells you you need to be a skanky whore to be accepted and loved, it tells you that you need to live for yourself only and not worry about anyone else. It tells young ppl to rebel against authority if authority doesnt do things the way you like it. It teached old people to FEAR because there are so many murderers and bashers etc out there. It teaches that truth is relative and morality is in the eye of the beholder.

I don't like TV, so i dont watch it. Coz just talking about it isnt good enough. Instead of watching all the crap that my friends do on a friday night, im off to help out at our local Youth Group to impart into the lives of young ones who so desperately need a friend and advisor. Instead of watching the weekly rubbish on TV for a few hours, i go visit people who matter, and make a difference to them.

It's what WE do personally that makes a difference. Do something for the people who are suckered in to the lies of the TV monster.

by the way, im 21 yrs old. so if your getting "old and cranky"... i must be an early starter. lol

Reality TV anyone?

yup tv sucks, i dont watch it, except for sports, everythin is about sex these days

Reality TV anyone?

i think you r right bt the world could not get this annoyed.you should know that now a days everything is done for money they dnt think that wat the matter or not

Reality TV anyone?

I think there are too many Reality Shows these days, just look at MTV where about the only show with videos is TRL. And I agree, there are no really decent Reality Shows out there now. I never really got into them ... the only one I watched was Flavor Of Love.

Reality TV anyone?

Absolut trash, producers love them as they are cheap to make.

Kids hooked on them have a distorted view of the real world.

As for movies I tend to go back to the old favourites, Kirk Douglas, burt Lancaster etc

Reality TV anyone?

There is nothing real about most reality programming, it's staged and phony and mostly for air heads. Other than the amazing race which actually teaches you a little about the countries people go into .

Reality TV anyone?

Yes we are getting old but, so is everyone else. TV has become a dumping ground for sewage. We are spewing out garbage and our young people are eating it up and we then wonder why we see such a morally rebellious generation. I tend to watch the old sitcoms like Mamas Family (stupid but laughable), I Love Lucy, Carol Burnett Show, Milton Berle, Masterpiece Theater, Archie Bunker, The Jefferson's, Sanford and Son, and my favorite Murder She Wrote. These were entertainment, some slapstick some mystery some variety but all in good taste and without meanness. The last movie I attended was Pirates and as a Johnny Deep fan I found it amusing. At home I last watched Night at the Museum pretty good, no junk in it just slap stick comedy that the Stiller family is known for (thank goodness there are still comedians with morals and language skills).

What can I say except you are right. Turn the set off and read a good book or leave it on for noise and read.

Reality TV anyone?

If you are getting old and cranky I have been there for 40+ years. Remember when TV was called, "A vast waist land?" In my opinion it has been going down hill eversince. Here is a machine that in 5-10 years could give every person in the civilized world a Dr. degree in the field of their choice. what do we Get? "I Love Lucy" and "The Sopranos." Even the History Chanel and Nation Geographic are geared to entertainment instead of education. PBS does do a fair job, but beyond that, Forget it!

Reality TV anyone?

I sometimes watch Judge Judy, used to watch Doc. Phil(no more). I am a member of Public Broad Casting and watch most of their programs, Calif. Gold ,Nova anything about the galaxy, terrific, so many good shows, children can watch any of them.

Reality TV anyone?

Well, I agree that TV is not what it use to be. Especially the major networks that are free. I am sick of sexual innuendo comedies.

I have cable so I can pick out some things I want to watch like TCM. I like the old movies the best. I also watch the reruns of the older shows (Family Matters, Munsters, Andy Griffith etc.) that I like and buy DVDs for shows that are no longer on the air. I am waiting for the mail to bring my Silver Spoons DVD. You can get around bad TV if you try.

Of course with the cable rates these days, I may just cancel and do DVDs, period and save some money.

Reality TV anyone?

you are not getting old and cranky (well, you may, but your tastes in TV/movies has nothing to do with it :-) I have 5 TVs in this house, just installed Satellite TV and have no idea why! 4,500,000 channels to choose from (exaggeration, big deal) and NOTHING to watch worth watching! Sit Coms are painful, I couldn't care less who is the next runway model, the next chef, the next anything! The only things worth watching that are new are "The Closer" on Mondays, (Monk was interesting for awhile, but I can only find so much amusing about neuroses), CSI has had its day, Law and Order is stuck for new ideas (wonder why...only been on TV for 399 years), Boston Legal (but not viewable as a rerun), and Damages (Glen Close...may not hold up well). At the current rate of TV usage here, these TVs will last well into the next millennium. "So You Think You Can Dance" and "Dancing with the Stars" was fun for awhile, but has become boring. The only idle entertainment I can find is youtube.com.....and that has nothing to do with TV.
