I am a teen that has a mom from jamaica and a dad i never met that my mom said he is greek or something like that and he looks white and i turned out white-looking but i'm very tall and hairy for my age i have ALOT (to me) of hair on my legs that NONE of my friends have or have even started developing leg hair yet and are same age or older. having all this hair embarasses me and i try to hide it. i shave it sometimes but my leg hair grows back VERY fast and i dunno why. are people from greece very tall and hairy or something i dunno, and are their kids like me at my age. (i don't wanna say my age exactly, but i just left pre-teen years). what i really want to know if it's just genetics from my dads side. or mabey he's arab i really dunno. please answer, thanx :)

Well, first off I'm pretty sure that Greek people are of the hairy sort. Italian people are also very hairy. I've noticed that the hairiness is usually associated with dark skinned people, so maybe you got the dominant gene from both parents. I know that can be really embarrassing. I'm probably about your age and I have hairier legs than most boys my age and a brownish peach fuzz mustache that I shave off. I'm not Greek (that I know of) or any other exotic heritage. I think some people just get the hairy gene. I have no idea why it develops more quickly in some people than others, but I have noticed that leg hair and things like that seem to develop very late in puberty for most boys. As for the height issue, you're just tall. I think Mexican and Chinese people are the only races that have been shown to be significantly shorter than other people. Just don't stress and know that it just means that you will have a head start on your classmates.

I would never tell a self-conscious teenager that he's worrying too much. I know it all goes with the age.

Yes, I believe many Greeks do often have a lot of body hair, as do a lot of Eastern Europeans. I know you feel embarrassed, but trust me, your buds are more than likely very envious of you. Dark thick body hair makes you look older and more "manly" and what boy doesn't want that? They'll have body hair of their own soon enough, and meanwhile they're just curious about yours. Whether you shave or not is up to you. Either way is OK. If I were your buds, I'd rather you left it and let us look it and admire it. Even if you shave it, they'd be curious about that experience, too. So the best thing you can do is accept the attention and make the most of it. You lucky guy.
